SANTA BARBARA, CA – The Southern California Tennis Association Foundation is proud to announce it was recently named the recipient of a $15,000 grant from the Schlinger Chrisman Foundation. This gift will help the SCTA Foundation support its mission of changing lives and communities through tennis and bring the sport to players of all ages, abilities, ethnicities and economic backgrounds.

With this funding, the Schlinger Chrisman and SCTA Foundations together can make a positive impact on inner city youth, under-served communities as well as providing equipment and funding to tennis and educational programs. The SCTA Foundation also offers grants and scholarships to promising young players, adults, seniors, veterans and wheelchair tennis in Southern California.

“We are happy be an example of supporting grassroots efforts that have a direct impact on individuals and organizations in need,” said Sarah and Roger Chrisman. “We believe supporting the SCTA Foundation’s goals of providing opportunities to play tennis will also improve health, fitness and build bonds in communities.”  Founded in 1986, the SCTA Foundation has had a community impact of giving more than $500,000 last year through grants, scholarships, program support, equipment and more to recipients throughout Southern California. We have provided 40+ scholarships for training, camps and equipment to promising juniors; given equipment to 100+ players of all levels; sponsored 7 tournaments and 4 wheelchair events. We have also helped renovate tennis facilities, supported After-School Tennis, and sponsored the San Diego Open, a men’s pro ATP Tour event.

“We are grateful for the generosity of the Schlinger Chrisman Foundation for believing in our mission,” said Linda Milan, the Executive Director for the SCTA Foundation. “Making tennis an equal opportunity sport to enhance lives is the heart of what we do. We’re thankful for this partnership.”
