Watching professional tennis court side is one of the best ways to learn, improve and get inspired to play the game.  Now high school players, coaches, parents and chaperones have the opportunity to attend the San Diego Open Men’s ATP250 event free of charge this Saturday and Sunday, Sept 17 and 18, at Barnes Tennis Center.

Enjoy top level qualifying matches for the tournament starting at 11:30am with great seats available. Admission to players and teams are free, parking is $20, so all are encouraged to carpool. The main draw begins on Monday, Sept 19 to 25, and tickets are available at https://barnessdopen.com/tickets.   “This could be a great team bonding event,” said Linda Milan, the Executive Director of the Southern California Tennis Association Foundation. “What better way for players to spend time together and get motivated to improve their games.”

To reserve a ticket, please email Linda Milan at lmilan@sctafoundation.org.  However, please indicate the total number of people coming from the team. Parents, chaperones and family members and invited to attend free of cost. Tickets can be picked up at the event.

For fun, perhaps teams can wear their school’s uniform, sweatshirts or gear to show unity.

“We would love to acknowledge your team at the tournament,” Milan said. “You can stand up and we will cheer and support your school. There are great photo ops available to share the experience with others.”

About the 2022 San Diego Open ATP 250: The tournament will feature a 28-player singles main draw and a 16-team doubles draw. The event offers a total of $612,000 in prize money and tournament champions will receive 250 ATP ranking points. Main Draw matches will begin at 11:30 a.m. (PDT) Monday, September 19. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, September 25 with the singles and doubles championships. There will also be a 16-player qualifying singles draw with qualifying rounds beginning at 11:30 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18. Four qualifiers will advance to the main draw.

About the San Diego Open WTA500: This will start with qualifying rounds Oct 8-9 and Main Draw matches will run Oct 10-16 at Barnes Tennis Center. The tournament will offer $757,000 in prize money and will have a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. A 24-player qualifying draw will also be played with six qualifiers advancing to the main draw.  The singles and doubles final will be on Oct 16.
